Tanked up

The timing for the tank is perfect.
It went in this week ... just before the rain came this weekend.
So all those lovely raindrops are running off our shiny new roof into our beautiful tank.
We've already got several thousand litres of water.

Soon we won't be able to see the tank.

The deck will cover it.
The floor joists are in ...
and the circular deck will float into the garden.

Tanked

I finally made it to the house today to take some pics.
Remember that bloody big hole?
Now there's a bloody big tank in it!
Well - bits of a tank.
The concrete has been poured forming the walls.
The tank will hold10,000 litres ... that's if it ever rains again.

The tank is right at the back sliding doors that lead into the living room.

The deck will be built over the top ...

And we'll step off the deck into the garden.Posted by Picasa

Rock On !

The jackhammer, the bobcat, the digger, the sweat, the heat, the work!!!

All to get these enormous rocks out of the bloody big hole in the backyard.
The job's done .... and look at the culprits. HUGE!

Three rocks were finally extracted. James and Ben plan to use them in the mini project they've slated after the house is finished.

Have I mentioned it before? A traditional BBQ and wood fired oven.

The rocks will be used for the support walls for the structure. James has also salvaged a number of other rocks from the hole and is planning a couple of dry stone walls as features in the garden.

As for the hole, a concrete retaining will will be built inside to support the tank.... then the decking will go over the top.
