This is the house that Ben built. And this is the story of our renovation. It's been a long time coming. (Don't even go there!)
My bloke James is the architect. It's a LOVE job when you design the home your family will live in. (I'm on record as saying once this house is done, they can carry me out in a box. I am never moving again!)
Ben is our builder, by the way. Kinda rolls off your tongue... Benthebuilder - all one word really. Not only is he a fine builder, he's a good guy.
Time has taken a toll on this old bird (the house, not me!) She's a bit tired. Cracks are starting to show. She leaks when it's wet, bits are falling off and the rot has set in. It's definitely time to do some running repairs as well as create a whole new look. Did I mention storage? A spare room, a linen cupboard? I am craving a clothes line!
Work started in July 2008. The finish line is set at Feb 2009.
Update: The finish line has moved to late March 2009. It's going to be close. My parents arrive in the first week of April to stay in the guest room. Hope it's ready!
Update to the Update The finish line is now "before Easter" which takes us into April .... Looks like the folks might be doing a stint at my sister's house!
Update to the update to the update: Hmmm "before Easter" is looking dodgy, just quietly ...
Update to the update to the update to the update: 4 weeks is now the finish line .. which takes us into early May. I might institute a countdown clock. How many more sleeps?
Update to the update to the update to the update to the update: James casually mentioned the house would be ready to move into on May 8
